Food Preferences are often a sensory issue..
I did not like tea till my MD days, later on started drinking tea in boredom...
Few people drink green tea, few prefer black tea or take tea with milk and so on ..
These kind of preferences are fine as long as your child consumes all food groups.
But there are some genuine issues also...
Hyposensitivities - children do not have a good feel of food, and stuff their mouth with food, or lots of food particles can be seen in their mouth even after finishing it, or keep drooling most of the time ..
Hypersensitivity issues - they resist food, clench their mouth or scream at first sight of food or gag or vomit when given a certain food ..
They often consume mashed food or drink milk only.
Few children have mixed issues like oral motor with hypo or hypersensitivity .
Solution is not very simple ...
