To discuss the treatment on phone is a Big Mess...
As child is not in front of Doctor, it is very difficult to judge on behalf of complaint narrated by parents...
It is further complicated as even common medicines are not available everywhere and parents are not confident about the name of drug as it was discussed on phone...
So it creates a vicious cycle of confusion.
Dear Friends it is the proper examination which decides the correct treatment...
It is always better to consult a nearby available doctor rather than discussing it on Phone...
It is more peaceful and feasible...

Knowledge about recurrent infections is no substitute to clinical examination... as children deteriorate faster...
Investigations or no investigations should be prerogative of a Doctor...
In most situations unnecessary tests confuse disease plan... e.g. often children with viral infections have high counts...
But if a child has fever but without classical viral symptoms, one must rule out urinary tract infection as it has potential for recurrence...
Antibiotic if started under some doubt, it's better to complete the course as suggested by doctor...
Do trust your doctor otherwise simple problem turn in to complex one...

Is blood transfusion a cure for anemia??
No ways dear friends...
It does pass some time and of course at times, it's life saving.
What's more important to know is why the Hemoglobin dropped so much?
Is it a disease?
Or is the cause poor nutrition?
We can only improve as parents and well-wishers if we are ready to shed off our myths...
Otherwise it's easy to always blame something else for our mistakes...
Dear friends, it is time to change and learn beyond what we already know...

Recurrent pain in abdomen, recurrent headache or Vomiting in an otherwise normal child is pretty close to diagnosis of some emotional issues.
If child has a normal clinical examination, normal investigation under supervision of an experienced child specialist, parents must think out of the box.
They should find out some trivial emotional issue, which may be heavy on child's soul...
Doctor fears in going deep into this paradoxical situation because it disturbs his time schedule often along with a compliment - " Doctor Sahab, we believe you are a good doctor but this time you have failed.
Do not think much, give your child emotional support and talk to your child confidently... 'You are fine, sometimes few illnesses last for few extra days...'

Chickenpox - Red itching Bumps.
It is common these days although not as much as it used to be. Incidence has come down because of an effective vaccine. Vaccine is given in two doses, first being at 12 months of age... Second Shot 3 to 6 month after the first shot.
Disease prevention should always be priority but most people ask for vaccine during intercurrent illness.
Vaccine is not effective during illness.
Anyways treatment is effective if started in the first 24 hours. Chickenpox can be a milder illness for young children but not for Adults...
Chickenpox is highly contagious, can spread as airborne as well as touching of rash.
It is contagious till the last bump scab falls off.

Noisy breathing is very common in children...
It is not the hallmark of Pneumonia as often parents perceived wet sounds on chest of child.
Young children can not clear their nose or throat as we do and often these secretions dry and plug the airways...
Over usage of cough syrups further exaggerate plugging...
Trust more on your doctor examination rather than symptoms in children...
There are not many many medicines for children for these illnesses, only time helps...

Is pneumonia common in children?
No it is not always pneumonia but it mimics so...
As newborn is having 30 to 50 million alveoli and has surface area of 2.8 sq met for gas exchange...
300 million alveoli by age of 8 years means 32 sq meter area for gas exchange i.e. half of adult area.
So it's common to say by many doctor child will improve by 8 years himself...
But dear parents every episode of respiratory illness bite some part of developing lung ..
It's better to maintain respiratory hygiene rather than leaving it on time...
Don't hesitate with inhalers, trust your Doctor as he knows best about your kids...

NewbornπŸ‘Άspeaks Maa Maa
I do sneeze sometimes, in fact many times in a day but it is not cold MaaπŸ™Ž..
That is how I clean my nose, you know I can not blow my πŸ‘ƒ..
You please do not give me a medicine for cold, rather avoid them...
Yes my nostrils are very small, get easily clogged and I find it difficult to breath through my mouth.
Keep my nose open, use simple saline water... Many times a day.
Two to three πŸ’¦ in each nostril just before feed.
You can make saline water by adding quarter spoon of salt in one glass of water...
Maa tere nahaane, khane se kuch naa hone Kaa...
Eat curd, rice and orange... No Worries...
Tu bhi healthy main bhi healthy

Fever - it's always temporary...
When I was a kid, I seldom got ill.
I still remember, my Dadi always checked Nazar and did a remedy for it.
It always gave me hope that I would be better soon.
But side by side, she always trusted my Doctor and waited for fever to get better...
But now people always say fever gets down with medicine and again reappears...
No patience... No patience at all...
Infections are same, we are same but we have changed our way of thinking...
This change has made us more anxious, more troubled... more trouble to children...
More Tests More Medicines...
Dear friends fever comes and goes as it did when we were kids...
It's temporary, do not worry, it's temporary...
